Ljubica Tomic is the Head of the Learning and Innovation Unit at The American University in the Emirates, a position she has held since December 2021. With extensive experience in the education sector, she focuses on identifying future skills trends and embedding them into the university’s programs. Ljubica plays a pivotal role in creating opportunities for students to gain practical experience and develop future skills by bridging the gap between academia and industry.She leads innovation projects that aim to enhance the educational experience and outcomes for students and is responsible for developing clear and measurable goals for the Learning Innovation Unit that support the university’s strategic plan. Ljubica also develops strategies to promote lifelong learning and fosters partnerships with industry leaders to gain insights into the specific skills and knowledge they seek in graduates, adjusting programs accordingly.Additionally, she manages a startup incubator where students, faculty, and alumni can develop and launch their startups, collaborates with faculty to integrate entrepreneurship courses and experiential learning opportunities into the academic curriculum, and facilitates mentorship programs connecting students with experienced entrepreneurs, industry experts, and alumni. Her previous roles at the university included Learning Innovation Officer in the Institutional Effectiveness Department and Event/Sponsorship Management Officer, where she designed and delivered comprehensive programs and managed over 300 events.
