Skip to contentWith the exponential growth in Fintech, new skills such as industry knowledge in blockchain and open banking are required for one to thrive in the industry. There is a wide range of skills from data analytics, project management, to compliance in today’s finance.
Skills are very broad in finance and they are not as same as years ago. Following the analysis of 40,000 jobs in Fintech, we created the SHIME framework, a qualitative tool to help individuals identify key skills in finance.
The framework is an acronym comprising the five types of skills: soft skills, hard skills, industry knowledge, mindset, and experience.
SHIME is about to analyse a wide range of skill sets required in Fintech. It can assist individuals to identify their strengths, but different role requires different SHIME profile.
For example, an engineer in Fintech may need strong programming skills, while a product manager must demonstrate cross-functional collaboration and negotiation abilities.
A good understanding of the required skills is important for the candidates who want to apply, but also those who want to upskill or reskill to be relevant for a world of digital finance.
With the contribution of 100+ CEOs, and professionals in business development, innovation and product management, marketing, data science, etc, we found that while hard skills matter, they only represent one dimension of a skill set in today’s finance.
